GenoType Mycobacterium CM VER 2.0
Your test system for the detection of M. tuberculosis complex and differentiation of 27 clinically relevant NTM from cultivated material
The members of M. tuberculosis complex are considered to cause tuberculosis. In contrast, the group of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) comprises numerous species that are mostly less pathogenic. However, there are some NTM that can cause certain diseases. Thus, the differentiation of tuberculosis TB pathogens and NTM plays an important role for diagnostics, treatment and prevention.
NTM are found in different environmental compartments such as soil and drinking water or in food, like cheese and pasteurised milk. Some NTM can cause nontuberculous mycobacteriosis particularly in immunocompromised patients (e.g. HIV patients) and thus gain clinical significance.
There is no current therapeutic standard for nontuberculous mycobacteriosis. The treatment is chosen according to the respective mycobacteria species. Consequently, reliable differentiation between clinically relevant NTM species is important for the therapy regimen.
Starting from a positive culture, GenoType Mycobacterium CM enables the rapid and reliable differentiation of M. tuberculosis complex and NTM. Besides, the simultaneous detection of 27 clinically relevant NTM species is also possible.
Both test systems, GenoType Mycobacterium CM und GenoType Mycobacterium AS, can be performed separately or in combination. If further diagnostics is required after performing the GenoType Mycobacterium CM test, the same PCR product can directly be used for GenoType Mycobacterium AS. Thus, extraction and amplification have to be performed only once and you save valuable time and effort.
The GenoType Mycobacterium CM („Common Mycobacteria“) allows the identification of M. tuberculosis complex and differentiation of 27 clinically relevant NTM species. Furthermore, a species-specific probe shows if members of the genus Mycobacterium are present. In this case, further differentiation with GenoType Mycobacterium AS is recommended.
Your benefits with GenoType Mycobacterium CM
- With one single test procedure numerous important mycobacteria species can be identified.
- By combining it with GenoType Mycobacterium AS, additional important NTM can be detected.
- Results are obtained within only 5 hrs.
- High sensitivity allows the identification of different mycobacteria species in one single sample and the detection of weak-positive cultures.
